I've been slow in blogging about our recent trip to see Alison & Walter et al. As just mentioned in a comment on Baxter Sez, it was 2 weeks ago tomorrow that we arrived in Charleston. As always, we had a wonderful visit...with a lot of Lee saying, "You don't have to entertain us - we can just sit on the back porch and do crossword puzzles!" and a lot of Alison saying, "We have this and this and this to choose from. What do you want to do now?" Alison and I have always been more interested in going and seeing than Lee, although I do enjoy sitting and reading or knitting as a change of pace from time to time.
We saw some new things and ate at some new places, as well as re-visiting favorite eating places from other visits. We got to hear Walter play one night, and that was a real treat! Breakfast at Charleston Bookstore (was that the name of the place??) is a new favorite!
I'll see if I can enter some photos after the fact, as I left my camera downstairs. We went to see Angel Tree, the largest living organism east of the Rockies, if I remember correctly. I don't think I have a picture as good as Walter's, so maybe someone will tell me how to put a link here.
Then we went to see the only tea plantation in America, which also happens to be in Charleston! I had drunk their tea before, but hadn't realized it was grown in the US. It was very interesting to see, though I think we were there soon after harvest, so the tops of the bushes were flat-cut. We did get to see where they're planting new shrubs, though, so we did see that new growth.
We also got to meet Benya...what a cutie! I have a few pictures of her, but she moved around so much I don't think I got any that really showed her personality. She's a real charmer!
